‘Milan, Napoli, and Inter are favorites for the Scudetto’ – Lippi

Marcello Lippi believes Napoli, Milan, and Inter are the favorites for the Serie A this season and Juventus must turn their focus on the Champions League.

Milan

and

Napoli

are currently sitting at the top of the Serie A table with 10 victories out of 12 games, the only unbeaten clubs in Europe's top five leagues, followed by defending champions

Inter

in third place.

Although it is too early to talk about Scudetto now,

Marcello Lippi

says Napoli alongside Milan clubs are the contenders for this season’s title.

“Milan and Napoli have had a fantastic start to the season, but they have to keep Inter in mind too,”

2006 World Cup winner Lippi told

Sky Sport Italia

.

“I don’t know about Juventus, they might’ve considered the situation and decided to focus on the Champions League.

“If that is what they have done, I’m sure the Bianconeri would be more than happy to take seventh in Serie A as long as they won the Champions League trophy.”

Milan had also been Winter Champions last season, but they finished as runners-up at the end of the season.

“Stefano Pioli has really impressed me with his work, especially as he has Milan playing beautiful football. The difficulties in the Champions League are largely because he and the players are unaccustomed to European football at this level.

“Pioli reminds me of Carlo Ancelotti and that is a real compliment.”

Luciano Spalletti was appointed as Napoli manager this summer, two years after he was sacked by Inter.

“Spalletti had a paid vacation for two years,”

smiled Lippi

.

“He seems calmer, more reflective, ready to dialogue with others, along with the usual competence. He hasn’t forgotten how to do the job.”
