“He gives rise to great hopes” Ze Roberto praises Leverkusen starlet

The former Leverkusen star is expecting a bright future for Florian Wirtz.

Since his move from FC Koln in January 2020,

Florian Wirtz

has established himself as a key player at Bayer Leverkusen. The Germany international is considered among Bundesliga’s top youngsters, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists in his 55 appearances for the Bundesliga heavyweights.

In a new interview with Kicker, former Leverkusen and Bayern player Ze Roberto has praised the 18-year-old for his exceptional talent.

"It's impressive how Wirtz has manifested himself this season. He has shown that he rightly gives rise to great hopes,"

Ze Roberto said.

"You shouldn't place too much expectation on him. He's still so young. When Leverkusen reached the final of the Champions League in 2002, he wasn't born yet. But the fact that he has scored six games in a row and also sets high goals for himself publicly shows that he doesn't just have quality, but also great ambition,

"He doesn't let it get him down when things don't work out. He has this natural instinct to keep trying, which is essential for long-term success. Therefore, it's only logical that he's already part of Hansi Flick's Germany squad."

Wirtz has made a perfect start to the new season. The teenage midfielder has scored four goals and provided five assists in his six appearances for Leverkusen this season,
