Ranieri open to signing Serie A players for Watford

The Italian coach has returned to the English top-flight for a fourth stint.

Claudio Ranieri was appointed as Watford’s new manager after the Hornets decided to part ways with Xisco Munoz last week. The 69-year-old is tasked with securing Watford’s survival in the Premier League, with his new side currently standing in 15th place on the league table.

Having spent spells at Roma and Sampdoria, the experienced coach is delighted to be back in the Premier League.

“Immediately after Watford’s last defeat, [owner Giampaolo] Pozzo called me to ask about my availability,”

Ranieri told

Radio Anch’io Sport

.

“We agreed and I’m very happy to be back in the Premier League.

“I like my job and I answer when there’s a good project. Great coaches are back in Italy, [Carlo] Ancelotti and I are back abroad.

“It’s part of the globalised football. I will find great coaches, great clubs and great players. It will be a beautiful adventure.”

The former Leicester City boss does not rule moves for Serie A players in the upcoming winter transfer window.

“Buying players from Serie A? Why not,”

he added.

“We signed [Nicolas] N’Koulou, former Torino, which we needed a lot.”

Ranieri’s first game in charge at Vicarage Road will be against Liverpool on Saturday.
