Solskjaer believes Dalot learned from his time at Milan

The Red Devils manager revealed that Diogo Dalot has gained a lot from his loan spell at Milan in the 2020-21 season.

Diogo Dalot

joined

Milan

on a loan deal in 2020 and featured in 33 matches, meeting the back of the net twice.

He did not get a regular start under the reign of Stefano Pioli but had a key role in helping the Rossoneri get to the top four of the Serie A table which earned them Champions League qualification after eight years.

The Portuguese defender has just featured in one game for

Manchester United

following his return but

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

will give him more game time this season.

Diogo has had a very good summer with being called up to Euros, he did well for Portugal Under-21s and had a season on loan that learnt a lot from in Milan,”

the former striker said at a press conference.

“He kept fit, which was a big thing. And he’s got qualities that we look at trying to exploit more and more, of course he’s got more experience.

“We’re not here just to loan out players for years and years. Last year’s loan was was to give him experience and game time and I think he did well when he came on the other night.”

The Red Devils were defeated in their Champions League clash against Young Boys on Tuesday. They play in the same group as Atalanta, who they will encounter on October 20 and November 2.

Milan, meanwhile, lost their first Champions League game of the season against Liverpool as well.
