Barcelona are actually bankrupt - Bayern President Hoeness

The Blaugrana will go against Bayern Munich at Camp Nou this evening for their Champions League opener of the 2021-22 season.

Barcelona

and

Bayern Munich

last locked horns in the 2019-20 Champions League’s quarter-final where Barca were defeated 8-2 at the hands of the Bundesliga giants.

During an interview with Radio Bavaria, with comments carried by

Marca

,

Uli Hoeness

, Bayern’s president, talked about the Catalans being in a mess, revealing that Barcelona would be

“a case for a judge responsible for insolvency. Barcelona are actually bankrupt”.

He also mentioned how difficult it would be to go against clubs like

Paris Saint-Germain

and

Manchester City

, who were so active in the transfer window and acquired the services of the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos.

Other clubs in Group E are Benfica and Dynamo Kyiv. Barcelona are sitting seventh on the La Liga table, lacking three points from Real Madrid who sit first. Bayern, meanwhile, sit second on the Bundesliga table, with Wolfsburg sitting first.
