Official: Thomas Delaney joins Sevilla from Dortmund for €6 million

After spending three seasons at Dortmund, making 88 appearances with four goals and 11 assists to his name, the Denmark international signed a four-year deal with Sevilla.

Delaney

has become

Sevilla’s

sixth signing of the transfer window as the Dane officially joins the Andalusian from

Borussia Dortmund

.

"I am incredibly proud to have played for BVB,"

said Delaney as

the Bundesliga giants confirmed the news yesterday.

“This club is one of the biggest in the world. I will always miss the atmosphere in Signal Iduna Park. It's a very special place in the world. I only have good things to say about Borussia Dortmund and the people that make up the club. I'm sad to be leaving BVB, but we all part as friends. I really enjoyed the time I spent together with the team, the staff and the fans, and I can say that I always gave one-hundred percent for them. Now I am taking on a new challenge and dedicating myself to new goals."

Despite a bitter end,

Sevilla had an incredible journey last season

as they remained in the La Liga title race until the final weeks.

Eventually, Sevilla finished fourth in La Liga last season, 15 points clear of fifth-placed Real Sociedad and 2 points behind third-placed Barcelona.

Delaney will serve as a backup to Fernando, who’s a key to their defensive structure as Lopetegui’s side tends to fight for the title this season again.
