Shkodran Mustafi: former Arsenal defender in talks with Genoa
Former Arsenal center-back Shkodran Mustafi has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A as Genoa may be closing in on a free transfer for the former German international.
He had been linked with
Fiorentina, but they decided to sign
Matija Nastasic
from Schalke instead, while he had another offer from the Turkish side
Adana Demirspor.
According to transfer pundit
Nicolò Schira
, Mustafi is in advanced talks with
Genoafor a contract until June 2025.
Mustafi made 50 appearances for
Sampdoriaduring his two-year spell between 2012 and 2014 before his switch to Valencia, and now he is set for a return to Italian football.
The World Cup winner, who has 20 senior caps for Germany, signed for the Premier League side
Arsenalin 2016 for a reported fee of €41m.
