Real Madrid’s Kubo to join Mallorca on loan deal

The Japanese winger is on the verge of returning to his former club ahead of the next season.

Takefusa Kubo

joined Real Madrid from FC Tokyo in July 2019. The Japanese winger was sent out on loan spells at Mallorca, Villareal, and Getafe, where he managed to continue his impressive form. Kubo was set to join the Blancos ahead of their upcoming La Liga campaign, but he might be heading back to

Mallorca

for a second stint.

According to

Goal.com

, Kubo is close to joining Mallorca on a loan deal. The Balearic side have reportedly defeated Real Sociedad in the transfer race to sign the player.

Kubo was part of Japan’s squad for the Tokyo Olympics. The 20-year-old scored three goals and provided one assist in his six appearances for Japan U23 as they finished fourth in the tournament. Kubo will now return to Spain for a quick vacation ahead of the next season.

Mallorca are back in La Liga after an immediate return from relegation. The Pirates are expected to provide a perfect environment for Kubo’s development as the player is already familiar with the club. The Japanese winger found his best form during his first spell at Mallorca, where he managed to score four goals in 36 games for the Spanish side.
