Bayer Leverkusen sign Mitchel Bakker from PSG

Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the signing of Paris Saint-Germain left-back Mitchel Bakker on a four-year deal until 2025.

Bakker

played for

Paris Saint-Germain

for two years. Before that, he was under contract with

Ajax

, where he mainly played for Young Ajax. Bakker only managed to play twice for the first team.

The 21-year-old was a first-team regular under

Thomas Tuchel

. But he fell out of the pecking order under

Mauricio Pochettino

last term. So he decided to leave Parc des Princes with 45 appearances and five trophies.

"Mitchel is a technically versatile and dynamic wide player, whose profile fits perfectly to Bayer 04,"

said Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes

.

"He's still young and can develop, but already has experience at the highest level with a top European club."

At his presentation in Leverkusen, Bakker indicated that the overall picture convinced him.

"It's a chance to take the next step in my development at an attractive club,"

Bakker told the club website.

"The whole package at Leverkusen convinced me. The people in charge made a real effort with me, were very target-focussed. The club is ambitious and so am I. It's a good fit."

Bakker will get the first chance to feature against Dutch compatriots Zwolle on 7 August, when they take on the Eredivisie outfit in a pre-season friendly.
