Arsenal eye Wolves’ Ruben Neves

The Gunners are negotiating with Wolverhampton Wanderers regarding penning a contract with their prized asset midfielder.

As per reports from

Record

, negotiations between

Arsenal

and

Wolverhampton Wanderers

have already started but the Wolves are not open to cashing in on their high-profile player

Ruben Neves

before the next season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s departure has put the next campaign’s prospects in doubt. Bruno Lage, who replaced him, is having his second managerial job as he has previously been the coach at the youth level and helped Carlos Carvalhal as an assistant.

He will be eager to retain Neves’ services as he has been a crucial player for the Wolves during the past four years.

The PFA Team of the Year was given to 24-year-old as his side won the Championship title before qualifying for the Premier League.

Last season, they finished the Premier League sitting 13th on the table. however, the midfielder kept his high standards, meeting the back of the net five times, including a penalty in their 2-1 victory over Arsenal in February.

Neves can pass the ball over any distance with accuracy and has a fierce shot, with 176 appearances for the Wolves.

The Portugal international has won 22 caps since 2015, when he had his debut for Portugal against Russia.

He made a brief appearance at the Euros in his side’s 2-2 draw with France before the reigning champions were eliminated in the second round.

Among the four Wolves players called up to be part of the squad for Euro 2020 were Neves, Rui Patricio, Nelson Semedo and Joao Moutinho.
