Barcelona outcast to file lawsuit against the club

Matheus Fernandes is planning to fight a legal battle against Barcelona after the club announced the termination of his contract.

Having left

Palmeiras

on a €7m deal,

Matheus Fernandes

joined Barcelona last year. The Brazilian midfielder was immediately loaned out to Real Valladolid, where he managed to feature in only three matches. The Blaugrana decided to terminate Fernandes’ contract upon his return to the club as they are determined to reduce their wage bill ahead of the next season. However, releasing the player as a free agent is proving to be more complex than anticipated.

According to

Radio Barcelona

, Fernandes and his representatives are planning to file a lawsuit against Barcelona. The player is reportedly claiming that he had legitimate offers from other clubs before the termination of his contract.

Fernandes was never officially presented by Barcelona. The player made his only appearance for the Spanish side in their Champions League clash against Dynamo Kyiv last season.
