‘Someone has to stay out’, says Lippi on top-four battle

Former Italy manager Marcello Lippi insists there will be a exciting battle for the Champions League qualification as three teams are fighting for two top-four spots.

The World Cup winner expressed his opinion about the current form of the three clubs and said Atalanta are fighting to finish second in Serie A.

“I’m sorry that someone has to stay out,” Lippi said, according to TMW. “There are some teams that have done very well in the last few games.

“Look at Napoli, Milan, Juventus, they have shown that they have recovered. Let’s see who will stay out.

“If all three win, Juventus remain out, let’s see what happens. Atalanta have the chance to finish second in Serie A after the disappointment in the Coppa Italia, it will be a tough game.”

Juventus

will have to win their final game of the season against

Bologna

and hope that one of

Napoli

or

AC Milan

drop points during the final fixture.

For

Stefano Pioli

’s men, things will be much more complicated as they will take on

Gian Piero Gasperini

’s

Atalanta

away from home.

Meanwhile, Napoli, who are sitting fourth, cannot afford to lose points when they face tenth-placed

Hellas Verona

.

Roma

are not in the race for the Champions League spot and Lippi says the newly appointed coach

Jose Mourinho

has to do so much to turn the Giallorossi into a real contender.

“Mourinho will have a lot of work to do.”
