Alvaro Odriozola’s performances turned things around for him
Although many considered Alvaro Odriozola to be out of the door before the summer, his performances have changed the opinions and have forced Real Madrid to reconsider his position in the team.
When Florentino Perez started his summer rebuild at
Real Madrid, many expected
Alvaro Odriozola
to be one of the first players out of the door. This expectation was also backed up by Zinedine Zidane’s preference to deploy Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez, Nacho, and Fede Valverde ahead of him at right-back, with Odriozola fifth in the pecking order, according to
Marca.
However, he turned things around as he continued to work assiduously. In a game against Barcelona in El Clasico, he was able to perform well and since then he has played in ten of Madrid’s last eleven games. Many even criticized the decision to use Vinicius over him in the game against Chelsea.
Now the idea of him leaving Real Madrid seems unlikely due to the uncertainty of Lucas Vazquez’s future and Carvajal's injury. It also seems that he has prevented the club to look for a right-back in the market.
