Bale aims digs at Mourinho after hat-trick against Sheffield United

The Welshman, who was out of Mourinho’s pecking order, has now become a key part of their interim manager, Ryan Mason’s plans.

Mason replaced Jose Mourinho as the Spurs’ interim manager this month and has put his faith in the Welshman as a fixed part of his starting lineup.

With a 4-0 victory over Sheffield, the Spurs have been lifted up to the fifth place in the Premier League table.

Gareth Bale was the star of the match scoring a sublime hattrick while Son Heung-min scored the Spurs’ other goal. The 31-year-old, who’s currently on loan from Real Madrid, told his post-match interview with

Sky Sports

: "It's the fact that we’re more on the front foot, we’re closer to the goal and you’re able to score more. We’re playing football the Tottenham way.”

Bale was asked about his physical condition after another 75 minutes of action as he has struggled with numerous injuries during his career.

Emphasizing the importance of regular game-time for his fitness, he said: "I feel good, as I’ve said before I just needed to play games, to get a run of games and I’m doing that now. I’m happy and when I’m happy I normally play well.”

The Spurs crushed Sheffield United 4-0 in a solid performance that Bale hailed as ‘Tottenham way’.

“It was a great performance from the first whistle. I feel like we were on the font foot and we pressed well, got hold of the ball, played some good football. It’s always nice to get another (hat-trick) ball.

On his hattrick, he added: “You have to take your chances when they come, and I had a few tonight. Winning always makes everyone happy, it gives a winning mentality to the dressing room. That’s all we can do.”

Spurs will travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United on Saturday as they’re closing-on in the Premier League’s top-four race .
