Sepp Blatter will not appeal against the ban that he is facing.
Sepp Blatter
says that he will not write a statement of appeal against the suspension that FIFA’s ethics committee has decided for him.
The 85-year-old will face six years and eight months of suspension after his current suspension expires, and he has 21 days to send his statement of appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which he refused to do so.
The suspension is due to his participation in a "vicious circle" of officials who awarded themselves £50m without any declarations.
Blatter told the PA news agency via a spokesman:
"I do not consider the FIFA ethics committee to have jurisdiction in this matter.
"Further, the committee members are biased. So it doesn't make sense to appeal."
Blatter, who will be banned until 2028, has also fined one million Swiss francs (just under £780,000).
Here is what FIFA’s ethics investigators have found him guilty of:
"set up a scheme through which they were allowing themselves to obtain extraordinary benefits with a minimum of effort.
"This vicious circle saw three of them (Blatter, Grondona and Valcke) signing the amendment contracts of the others and approving the respective extraordinary bonuses, while the fourth (Kattner) was in charge of implementing the payment of such bonuses."
