Pirlo says Juve "must continue believing" after Benevento encounter

Juventus boss, Andrea Pirlo insists that his team “must continue believing” following a shock 1-0 home defeat against Benevento on Sunday.

Adolfo Gaich scored a goal for Benevento in the 69th minute that secured a win for his relegation-threatened team at Allianz Stadium, however, Juventus had 73 percent of the ball possession and provided 16 shots.

Cristiano Ronaldo couldn't inspire his teammates back into the game, and

Juve

are likely to lose their grip on their league crown.

“We must continue believing, continue our path so that we are up there. As I said yesterday, the objective does not change, but we do need a completely different attitude to this,"

Pirlo

was asked about his side’s title prospects and spoke with

Sky Sport Italia

.

"We wear an important jersey and must honor it every time.”

“There was no pressure, just the expectation to do better than this. Instead, it was a bad day in every respect, with our attitude, technical errors, everything. When you play like this, you can well lose.

“We were eager to win the game, but also knew it would be a difficult match, as Benevento are well-organized with two tight lines, so we had to be calm and spread them out. Instead, we were frenetic, made lots of mistakes, and unfortunately were unable to get the result we wanted.”

Juventus are now standing 3rd and are 10 points behind Serie A leaders, Inter with 11 games still remaining of the current season.

There are rumors that Juve will fall to 4th place, with Milan and Atalanta in front of them.
