Italiano believes Spezia are not effective against minnows

Spezia manager Vincenzo Italiano congratulates his men after their 2-2 draw against Parma and explains why his side play better against the clubs in the top half of the table.

Promoted

Spezia

squandered a two-goal lead thanks to

Emmanuel Gyasi

’s brace as they were held to a 2-2 draw at

Parma

.

“We had started the way we did the second half against Fiorentina, too sluggish, but quality pays off eventually and we clawed it back for a draw,”

Italiano told Sky Sport Italia

.

“With a little more determination in front of goal, we could’ve scored a third, but I congratulate my lads because drawing in those circumstances was not easy.

“Our movement on the second goal was very strange and I don’t understand what happened. Fortunately, we were able to make up for it.”

This was the same starting lineup that beat

Milan

2-0, yet was trailing Parma 2-0 and only managed a 2-2 draw.

“Against the very big clubs, we are forced to approach the game in a certain way. In others, when we have the initiative and the opposition defend and counter, perhaps we’re not as effective.
