Redknapp suggested Lampard sign John Stones
Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is full of praise for Manchester City center-back John Stones and claims he recommended Frank Lampard to sign him for Chelsea.
Redknapp
revealed he sent a message to former
Chelseamanager
Frank Lampard
last summer and told him to make a move for
Manchester Citydefender.
“I text Frank at the start of the year but they’d already made a signing at Chelsea. I said, ‘What about him, John Stones?'”
Redknapp is quoted by the Metro
.
“I think he’s a real talent. Someone just had to get hold of him again and get him playing and believing in himself.
“And he’s come back now and he looks the best center-half around. He’s in fantastic form.”
The Blues may now lament that they didn’t take Redknapp’s advice on signing Stones.
Chelsea signed veteran Brazilian defender

, but he’s unlikely to be a reliable option for the London Blues.
