Diego Costa gamble did not pay off to leave Atletico Madrid

Costa was one of the important heroes of the January transfer window but his gamble for leaving Atletico Madrid as a free agent did not work out.

On December 29,

Costa

ended his deal at Atleti hoping to find a new team but while the transfer window came and went, the attacker is without a new team.

It is outlined how Atleti let the striker in only if he did not join one of the rivals, with clauses that are put into the deal.

if

Costa

joined one of those rival Spanish teams still in the Champions League (Barcelona, Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid), he would be fined €25m, or €5m if he moved in another team that is still in Europe’s elite team tournament, and if he joins another team, then Atleti would pay the remaining €3.2m of his deal.

Moussa Dembele finally arrived on loan from Lyon, which will keep Costa’s future unclear.

The ex-Chelsea striker will be interested in kickstarting his profession as soon as possible.
