Pep Guardiola gives Eric Garcia transfer message to Barca
Pep Guardiola implied Eric Garcia could leave Man City this month and return to Barcelona.
When
Garcia
told his team that he doesn't see a future for himself at the Etihad, he surprised them, and instead preferred to return to Barcelona.
Barcelona have shown interest in the 20-year-old, with
City
deciding on deadline day that financially, it's better to keep him than to give him away for an unacceptable amount of money.
Garcia
is still involved in
Guardiola
's plans - included in the Champions League quarter-final with Lyon - however, fans were angry at having a player that doesn't want to play in the team in the starting line-up.
The
City
’s manager had not stopped convincing
Garcia
to alter his decision and chose him to play in the match with Cheltenham in the FA Cup as he recovers from injury.
However,
Guardiola
confessed that a new deal for the defender is unlikely to happen and said it's up to Barca whether
Garcia
will leave the team in January for the unacceptable fee or at the end of the season when his deal ends.
"I’m pretty sure he’s going to leave at the end of the season,"
he implied.
"And [whether he leaves] now in this transfer window will depend on the clubs. We’ll see until the end of the transfer window."
