“There are no issues; Ings wants to stay with Southampton” - Semmens

The England international has caught the attention of Tottenham but Martin Semmens, Saints CEO, reveals they are not willing to sell.

Southampton

have denied any intention to sell their striker

Danny Ings

. The 28-year-old’s future received a great deal of attention when it was reported that he asked to depart and sign with a team playing

Champions League

football.

Tottenham

were a likely destination for the striker, whose contract will expire in 18 months.

When asked about the Ings situation, Spurs manager

Jose Mourinho

chose not to rely on it.

With Saints aware of the rumors going around, CEO

Martin Semmens

declared Ings has a perfectly good relationship with the club and they have no plans on selling him.

"

The conversations have gone on and we have had talks with Danny, they've been 100 per cent professional

," Semmens said. "

Danny is very happy here, he wants to stay with the club and we have enjoyed having him.”

Semmens also stated that he is hopeful about a new contract with the striker, insisting money is not an issue.

"

Money is 100 per cent not the issue,

” Semmens said. “

Danny has put us under no pressure to provide finances that we are not comfortable with. Those rumors are not true.

"Danny is focused on playing games for us and does not want to talk about his future contract. I think people forget that they are humans.

"He has a contract with us for 18 months and he will be with us for that time and we will sit down and talk about the future at some time before then.

"There are no issues. I know everybody is looking for a story but he has a contract with us and we hope he will stay beyond that."

Southampton are sitting ninth on the

Premier League

table, five points adrift of

Liverpool

who are fourth, leaving them unlikely to be able to give Ings Champions League football.

With them setting Arsenal aside in the FA Cup, a victory at Wembley will help them provide Ings with European football in the

Europa League

.
