The referee regret the decision for sending off Rufer

As David Dome says, A-League officials believe that sending off Alex Rufer in the 1-1 draw with Macarthur was a wrong decision made.

A-league officials admit that they have made a wrong decision in the match between

Phoenix

 and

Macarthur

Alex Rufer

 had the ball but after

Denis Genreau

attempted to win the ball, VAR decide that Rufer needed a red card.

Stephen Lucas

, the Referee, decided to book him but change his mind after having consulted with VAR official.

David Dome said that the league referee has admitted that this decision was a wrong one. He said:

"He's admitted they got it wrong in #MACvWEL (sic) twice: in being referred to the VAR and again for the red,"

"But the appeal is completely different and is a much higher threshold. Am waiting on ref report and probably MRP (match review panel)."

Rufer is now facing a three-match ban after receiving this re card.

Dome then said:

"Would be extremely disappointed if it was 3 weeks,

"Would def (sic) look at appealing anything like that."

Ufuk Talay, Phoenix Coach, says that this decision changed the flow of the match and led to Macarthur's one goal scored and resulted in a 1-1 draw.
