‘It changed the game’ Nix coach Talay questions the red card decision

Wellington Phoenix were held to a draw against newcomers Macarthur in their Saturday A-League match.

David Ball

’s strike in the 39th minute put

Wellington

forward but the Nix were unable to keep the lead as Markel Susaeta’s 67th-minute strike proved to be enough for

Macarthur

to gain their first point in Australia’s top tier football league.

Alex Rufer

’s red card in the 62nd minute of the game played a part in his team’s inability to win the game. However, Nix’s boss

Ufuk Talay

believes that the decision could have been made otherwise.

"In my opinion it was a very soft red card," said a restrained Wellington coach Ufuk Talay.

"I know my players quite well and Rufer isn't that type of player. I wish he was that type of player, but he's not that type of player.

"It changed the game. We were quite comfortable in the first half and into the second half."

Bulls coach

Ante Milicic

was also asked about the incident but he preferred to not make a comment. However, the coach was happy about his team’s improvement.

"Today we got a point and it's a starting point with our supporters,

"We definitely let them down six days ago (in the loss to Central Coast). We had an opportunity today to get it right but in the end we came home well."
