Manchester United extended Jesse Lingard contract

Manchester United have extended Jesse Lingard’s contract for another year, making sure that the 28-year-old midfielder could stay at Old Trafford until the summer of 2022.

Lingard

’s current contract was due to expire in the summer.

The England international has been in just 99 minutes across two Carabao Cup games this season and has tried to even sit on the bench for most of Premier League plays.

Obviously, a January loan contract is being examined in order for

Lingard

to get more minutes this season.

“Jesse is a part of the club and he’s worked really hard,”

Solskjaer said in July when asked about the player’s spot in the Norwegian’s plans.

“He deserves his chance to come back in and we know his qualities. We know that Jesse’s got different qualities to other players and he knows that we value him.”

Earlier this month,

Lingard

made United’s team for their 2-0 Carabao Cup quarter-final victory over Everton.

If the right decision is made, it's possible that he make a short-term move further afield, while it is anticipated that Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo be outgoing faces.
