Arteta gave an update on Gabriel's infection

The Gunners' defender has recently contracted the Covid-19 virus.

Arsenal

boss Mikel Arteta gave an update on Gabriel and his infection with the Covid virus.

The Gunners took on Chelsea yesterday to secure their first win in the Premier League in about two months, 3-1. But during the victory, the Brazilian Gabriel was not able to accompany his team because he contracted the Covid 19 virus. He is also expected to miss his side's games against Brighton and West Brom and return to action in the FA Cup match against Newcastle. The Spanish coach also explained the condition of the Brazilian player of his team.

"Well, we have to follow the guidelines and protocols,"

he stated.

"The doctor is on top of that, for how long still it’s not 100 per cent.

"But he was in contact with somebody who has tested positive, so he needs to stay away for a few games."

Arteta then confirmed that the virus had not been given to Gabriel during his team's match against Manchester City. He said:

"No, it wasn’t with another player in the Premier League. He was with someone in his bubble."
