Brendan Rodgers is the solution for Arsenal - Merson

Merson believes the Irishman can put an end to Arsenal's problems.

Former

Arsenal

striker Paul Merson believes the club should sack Mikel Arteta and move on to other options, including Brendan Rodgers.

Arteta has been under a lot of pressure in recent weeks due to poor results. His team is ranked 15th in the table, 5 points above the relegation zone. There are many names around Arsenal, including Max Allegri, but Merson believes that Brendan Rodgers is the solution to the Gunners' problems.

"Brendan Rodgers is a better manager than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but Manchester United still have more chance of winning the title than Leicester,"

Merson wrote for Daily Star

"Leicester do well against the top teams. But they’ve lost at home to Aston Villa, West Ham, Fulham and Everton.

"When they can play on the counter they are as good as anybody. But they lose too often against teams they have to have a go at. They get picked off.

"I still think Rodgers is doing a good job. He should be the Arsenal manager. He’s been absolutely outstanding there.

"But he doesn’t have the resources or the players to make them title contenders. United do, and will probably be in the mix at the end of the season.

"I just think United fall behind too much in matches. It’s like they need something to happen before their players start performing.

"This is a big game for both teams and I think Leicester will sit off and let United have a go at them.

"If they can get more consistent, Leicester won’t be far off contending for the title. But at the moment they are losing to Everton one game and then beating Tottenham the next."
