Stroppa: ‘Crotone lack determination and focus’
Crotone boss Giovanni Stroppa blamed lack of determination and focus for Crotone’s 3-1 fall against Sampdoria on Saturday.
The
Blucerchiati
scored twice in the first half with goals from
Mikkel Damsgaard
and
Jakub Jankto
.
Nwankwo
Simy converted a spot-kick for Crotone. However,
Quagliarella
came off the bench and within five minutes he scored the third goal for Sampdoria.
“We must learn to win individual duels more and hold the ball up better,”
Stroppa told Sky Sport Italia
.
“The team is playing well, but it’s not enough. We had some opportunities in the first half and we didn’t make the right choices.
“We also have to take responsibility for conceding the goals when the defense was in position. We can do much better, but it’s above all a matter of determination and focus.
“Unfortunately, we have these limitations and aren’t consistent over 90 minutes. I know my players, it’s not a question of arrogance, but we must learn to get it done more clinically.”
Arkadiusz Reca won the penalty and had some other chances, but Stroppa wasn’t impressed.
“He attacks well in fits and starts, but needs to remember sometimes to play as a real defender too. For example, the first goal he let himself get caught out of position.”
