Koeman says tight schedule is “killing” Barcelona players

Barca coach Ronald Koeman has chosen a congested football calendar this season and has claimed it is “killing our players”.

The current campaign has started over a month late because of the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, meaning last season was only ended in August for teams racing in European competition.

That guaranteed that the team had just six weeks between their two campaigns and also means the Catalan giants having 20 matches between 27 September and 22 December this campaign.

Actually, the request of players is even higher – that spell has been broken up by two international breaks, which not only includes a number of traveling but also playing as many as four or five extra matches.

Until now,

Barcelona

have won all five of their European games, and finish their Champions League group this week against Juventus.

After that, the Blaugrana have league clashes against Levante, Real Sociedad, Valencia, and Real Valladolid before Christmas, and will end their 2020 calendar campaign at home to Eibar.
