Kurt Zouma: I know I can be a threat from set-pieces

The French defender is glad that his set-piece trainings are paying off.

Kurt Zouma

scored his fourth goal of the season in

Chelsea

’s Saturday match against Leeds United.

Leeds

took the lead by a surprise goal from

Patrick Bamford

but Olivier Giroud managed to score the equalizer before the break. Chelsea’s second goal was scored by Zouma who raised high to score Mason Mount’s corner in the 61st minute. Christian Pulisic who came in as a substitute scored in the stoppage time to wrap up the 3-1 victory for Lampard’s team. From the start of the season, Kurt Zouma’s contribution to Chelsea’s attacks has been greater than before and the French defender is glad that his hard work at training is paying off.

"I’m trying to help the team as much as I can. I know I can be a threat from set-pieces. I work hard in training and I have got the technical staff to help me with that,"

the 26-year-old told

Chelsea's official website

.<em>

"We know this season we can score many goals, from open play but also set-pieces. It’s working at the minute but we have to keep going like that."

Asked about the team’s mentality, Zouma responded:

"Everyone is happy. We knew it was going to be difficult. Leeds are a great team and they scored very early in the game, but we kept the belief and kept playing our game.

"We deserved more in the first half, we had more chances, but it finished 3-1 and, by the way, I’m happy to score another goal!"
