Shakhtar Donetsk shocked Los Blancos last month

Kenny Tete assumes Shakhtar’s win may have been related to some in-house issues for Real Madrid

Real Madrid's failure against Shakhtar Donetsk could be somewhat because of Los Blancos' recent in-house issues involving Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior. Shakhtar beat Madrid with a shocking 3-2 win at last month in their Champions’ League Group B opener, despite not having available 10 first-team players due to coronavirus. Zinedine Zidane's men attacked to compensate but could only achieve two goals in the second half, and even followed their defeat with another discouraging result on matchday two.

In the second half, Benzema failed to pass the ball to Vinicius, while Mendy was looking for him seeking opportunities.

Tete

believes the pressure behind such a situation may well have initially contributed to their loss to Shakhtar. "Many people expected us to lose by at least three goals in Madrid, they thought we weren't capable of dealing with the situation, but we surprised everyone. We beat Madrid in Madrid, the most successful club in the Champions League."So, I believe it was a shock for them,” Said .
