Spain and Portugal welcome Ukraine to hosting the 2030 World Cup

Ukraine will join the bid of Spain and Portugal to jointly host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This decision has been announced by the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

The announcement came on Wednesday as the

Portugal

football federations welcomed Ukraine to incorporate into their bid to host the 2030 World Cup, in an agreement with the

Ukrainian

Football Association (UAF).

Reportedly, the European football's governing body has backed the plan as RFEF president,

Luis Rubiales

urged on "building bridges on projecting a message of unity. He told

:

"Our bid is not an Iberian bid anymore, it's a European bid.

"I'm convinced that now our bid is much better than before. Football is universal and if it is capable of changing the lives of people in so many ways it should also be used for doing good,"

he added

.

 

While Spain intends to provide 11 venues for the World Cup, Portugal expects to provide three venues while Ukraine will be hosting the tournament by 2030 amid Russia's invasion.

Rumors are heard about the joint hosting of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Greece, while the South American countries are planning to hold the 2030 World Cup in Uruguay, the country that hosted the first competition, on the occasion of the 100th year of the competition. Also, Argentina, Chile, and Paraguay want to take the lead in holding competitions.
