Yaya Toure revealed his reason for Leaving Barca for City

The midfielder from Ivory Coast, who played more than 300 games for City, claimed that he went to Etihad Stadium to become a legend.

Former Manchester City star Yaya Toure claimed that he left Barcelona to become a legend and joined Manchester City.

Toure played for Barcelona between 2007 and 2010, winning two La Liga titles and one Champions League title. However, he decided to leave Camp Nou and join Manchester City. He won three Premier League titles at City, as well as many individual honours. Now he talked about his reasons for leaving Barca and joining City.

He said: 

"I wanted to be something unique. I wanted to be a legend. That was the plan, to go to a club, make a big impact and maybe be a legend one day."

Asked

what he would have made of his career as a 10-year-old Toure added: 

"My face can tell you; I would be happy. I would be amazed. At Barcelona in Messi times, playing against Cristiano Ronaldo at his best, all these things, I have been in a good place.

"In the end I think you could say it was top, that it has been a brilliant career full of success and trophies as an individual and collective. I could not have asked for more.

"When players retire from football, some think they should carry on more but for me I was relieved and happy. The pathway through my career was incredible, the journey was impressive and full of hard work, dedication and sacrifice. I really enjoyed it."
