The Dutch star has been in the starting line-up in Camp Nou in recent seasons, but since Xavi took over the bench in October, the Catalan coach have opted to use Sergio Busquets, Pedri and Gavi in midfield. De Jong joined Barcelona from Ajax in the summer of 2020 for € 85 million, but was never able to repeat his good days in the Netherlands. Hence, he believes that leaving Barca is the best solution for both sides.
