Official: Pioli extend his contract with Milan until 2023

The Italian coach will stay at San Siro until 2023.

AC Milan

coach Stefano Pioli has extended his contract with the club until 2023.

Pioli replaced Marco Giampaolo at the San Siro in October 2019 on a two-year deal. He won the Serie A runner-up with the team last season and brought them back to the Champions League for the first time in seven years. Milan has also performed well this season and is in second place with the league leader

Napoli.

AC Milan have now extended the Italian coach's contract for another two years.

In an interview with Milan TV, Pioli said:

"I hope to be able to experience many emotions on this bench, we are ambitious and we want to continue like this."

Milan director, Paolo Maldini said:

"There is a thrill of continuing a path that is bringing us great results.

"We don't want a team to win for just one year, but for a long time. We want to bring Milan back to being competitive,"

he added,

"We do not renew only with the coach Pioli, but also with the person. There is great harmony between us, there may be problems, but we will know how to overcome them."

Pioli has managed to bring Milan closer to their golden days and the club has decided to reward this good performance by extending his contract. The Rossoneri lost 4-3 to Fiorentina in their last Serie A game, but with a 1-0 win over

Atletico Madrid

, they kept their hopes of advancing from the group stage of the Champions League alive.
