Victor Osimhen is set to sit out next year's AFCON due to injury

Napoli star Victor Osimhen will miss the Africa Cup of Nations after undergoing surgery on broken bones in his face.

The striker was injured in a collision with Inter defender

on Sunday when the Nerazzurri ended

Napoli

's undefeated start to the Serie A season. In the 55th minute, he was replaced and rushed to the hospital for testing, which found

"multiple displaced fractures of the left orbit and cheekbone,

" according to the club.

On Tuesday,

Osimhen

underwent surgery that included the insertion of titanium plates and screws.

He will be out of action for three months, according to the club, which means he will miss Nigeria's AFCON campaign in Cameroon, which starts in June.
