Mourinho fails to improve Roma’s situation

Mon 08 November 2021 | 22:11

Mourinho’s has been unable to better Fonseca’s record at Roma.

Mourinho

was appointed as

Roma’s

manager to fill

Paulo Fonseca’s

place at the club following his poor performance, but it seems like Mourinho has been unable to prove himself as a good successor for his compatriot.

Roma has gained 19 points in 12 Serie A games under Mourinho, which is five points less than the club’s former head coach.

Mourinho joined the Italian side after a bad period at Premier League, where he failed to help Tottenham reach a promised place in the English’s domestic competition. He has signed a three-year contract with Roma, hoping to help them reach their expected place in Serie A.

Roma has lost five league clashes so far this season which is two more than what they went through under Paulo Fonseca last season. Fonseca gained 24 points in the first 12 games losing only three matches, and one of them was punishment for including  Amadou Diawara in their under-22 list of players, which makes Fonseca’s tactical failures only two.

Fonseca won seven games in the same period last term, and Mourinho has won six games so far, meaning that the club’s record under the new boss has been worse than Fonseca’s record, and this puts Mourinho in a dangerous situation now, forcing him to look for some better performances from now on to prove his qualities before the club decides to part ways with the former Inter, Real Madrid and Manchester United boss.
