Al-Sadd and their fans beg Xavi not to leave for Barcelona

The former Blaugrana midfielder is emerging as the favorite replacement for Ronald Koeman.

A collection of supporters’ pleas for

Xavi

to remain at the club were shared by Qatar's

Al-Sadd

as reports suggest that the ex-

Barcelona

midfielder may take charge at Camp Nou.

Xavi has gained a lot of success with Al-Sadd since becoming their coach and since

Ronald Koeman

has departure the Blaugrana, the ex-Spain international is eyed as a potential successor for the Dutchman.

Koeman was sacked on Wednesday after the Catalans’ 1-0 loss at the hands of Rayo. According to Goal, Xavi has been offered to take charge of the club.

However, neither Al-Sadd nor their fans are ready to let him leave without a fight. When talking to the reporters on Thursday, Xavi refused to comment on the rumors of going back to Barcelona.

I am focused on my work with Al-Sadd and I won't talk about anything else,"

he explained in a press conference.

He moved to Qatar in 2015 after a 20-year spell with Barcelona and after hanging up his boots in 2019, he started coaching.

The Barca favorite helped his side win the Stars League title last season, which was one of the seven trophies he has delivered in two years.

Winning the battle against Umm Salal 3-1 on Tuesday has stretched their unbeaten run to 34 games in the league.
