Newcastle need to make an “extraordinary” offer to Ten Hag

Newcastle may have to offer Erik ten Hag an “extraordinary” bid to persuade him to be in charge of St James’ Park.

by mutual consent and Graeme Jones took temporary charge of the club as an interim coach.

Jones helped the club through their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday, but they have yet to win a game this season after nine matches.

The ex-Luton manager, however, is not a contender for the permanent job.

The former England internationals Steven Gerrard Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard have all been offered to take the role at Newcastle.

Paulo Fonseca is considered as a favorite to replace Bruce, but Eddie Howe and Lucien Favre also emerge as possible replacements.

Over the weekend,

Ten Hag

was named a possible candidate for the role, with Ajax director of football

Marc Overmars

also being linked with a similar job at the club.

According to Chronicle, however, Ten Hag will most likely not depart Johan Cruyff Arena.

He was quizzed about the possibility of Overmars joining.

"

Marc hasn’t informed me,"

he said.

"I don’t think he’s withholding anything from me either. I’m not working on and now is definitely not the time."

And when the prospect of departing his current job was mentione to Ten Hag, he said:

"There’s no reason for me to think about that now. I am very happy at Ajax and I give everything for the club, every day.

"I know you can’t plan anything in football, but you have to make an exceptional and extraordinary offer if I want to change my plans."

Newcastle are able to offer Ten Hag a contract that is lucrative, but the Ajax manager won’t probably accept the job.
