‘Inter could have scored more goals’- Inzaghi after 3-1 win at Sheriff

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi admits the Nerazzurri could have scored more goals after their 3-1 win over Sheriff.

Inter

’s game against

Sheriff

ended with the result of 3-1 in favor of the Nerazzurri, who obtain a fundamental victory in order to still be able to hope for qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Simone Inzaghi

’s side were under pressure for a good result after picking up a single point from their first two fixtures in this season’s competition.

Goals from

Edin Dzeko

,

Arturo Vidal

and

Stefan de Vrij

put them two points behind Group D leaders Sheriff.

“We played the game that we had prepared. Sheriff arrived here on the back of victories against Shakhtar and Real Madrid,”

Inzaghi told

Sky Sport Italia

.

“We knew it would have been difficult, but we remained united. We can still improve. There’s still a lot of work to do.

“When we find clubs like Sheriff who sit deep, we can’t make technical mistakes, I have the feeling we conceded too many chances on the counter,”

Inzaghi added

.

“We are still recovering. Calhanoglu is out of action, Correa is not 100% fit, Gagliardini is coming back. We are waiting for everybody, we need everyone as we play every three days.

“We know it’s something we need to improve. We haven’t scored enough goals, we created 13-14 huge opportunities, we played really well but we could have scored more goals, especially in the first half.

“I think Arturo [Vidal] trains with great enthusiasm. The same goes for Sanchez. Vidal is an added value, he is decisive, whether he starts or comes off the bench. He has the same enthusiasm as a youngester.”
