Newcastle’s new owners attend clash against Tottenham

Newcastle’s new owners are in attendance and the club is welcoming back Callum Wilson while Son Heung-min is included in Tottenham squad.

The new owners of

Newcastle United

were present at St James’ Park for the first match of the PIF era against Spurs, who have included

Son Heung-min

in the starting line-up.

Mike Ashley’s 14 years of Newcastle ownership came to end and the new owners took over the club. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) bought 80% of the club, while Amanda Staveley's PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben brothers' RB Sports & Media took 10% each.

As PIF counted assets of at least $500billion, Newcastle will be able to compete for trophies from now on.

Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the new chairman, was also present in their first Premier League clash of the 2021-22 season.

Wilson

is part of the starting lineup for Newcastle now after dealing with his thigh injury, whereas

Tottenham

were given a boost as they called on Son to play alongside Harry Kane.

About the Covid-19 results, Spurs tried to clarify the situation as two players returned from international duty.

"

Following a number of reports regarding the health of our players, the club would like to provide clarity to events of the past 48 hours,"

a Tottenham statement read.

"After further analysis following Premier League protocol, two players – whose names will not be disclosed due to medical confidentiality – returned false positive tests for COVID-19 on Friday after returning from international duty."
