Diogo Jota to return to Liverpool after an injury with Portugal

The Liverpool star is injured again and its severity is still unknown.

Liverpool

received very bad news today and it seems that Diogo Jota will be forced to leave

Portugal

due to injury and will return to Liverpool.

The 24-year-old star is currently on international duty but did not play in his side's 3-0 win over Qatar, and his inclusion in the squad for Tuesday's game against Luxembourg is in doubt. If Jota fails to prepare  for the World Cup qualifer game, Portugal coach Fernando Santos plans to sent him back to the club.

Selecao manager said:

“He trained a while ago, increased the intensity today with (physio) Joao Brito, but he didn’t train with us.

“The probability [that Jota will play] will be little. I’ll talk to him and see how he feels.

“If we see that he is in any condition to be on the bench and then he can come in, that’s fine. If we don’t, we won’t take the risk with a player who hasn’t been able to train with us for a long time.

“I’ll make the decision shortly, and if he can’t play, he’ll head back to Liverpool.”

His injury is reportedly muscular and he will play against Watford on Saturday if he returns to Liverpool and recovers. He missed 21 games last season due to injury and Jurgen Klopp is worried that last season's nightmare will be repeated for him.
