Danilo: Guardiola is not easy to work with

The Juventus fullback has opened up on his struggles with the Spaniard during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

Having left Real Madrid on a £26.5 million deal, Danilo joined Manchester City in July 2017. The Brazilian right-back, who struggled with multiple injuries during his time at the Premier League club, says Man City boss Pep Guardiola is not easy to work with.

“I’ve been lucky, they are different, but they are all winners,"

the veteran defender told

la Repubblica

 on his managerial history.

"I have tried to learn from everyone.

"It was with Guardiola that I changed my way of seeing things, I didn’t play much also because of an injury. It’s true that it’s not easy to have a good relationship with him.

"He is never relaxed, he thinks about football all the time. I think at home, in the evening, he puts his wife on the couch as if she were a player on the pitch!"

Guardiola’s constant occupation with football has been highlighted by his players before. The most famous incident dates back to 2009 when the then Barcelona coach called Lionel Messi at midnight to explain his brilliant idea of converting him from a winger to a false nine ahead of an El Clasico game.

The Spanish coach is once again in the title race for the Premier League trophy this season, with his side currently standing behind league leaders Liverpool. The Citizens will face the Merseyside club in a crucial battle on Sunday.
