‘Unacceptable’ Messi contract claims dismissed by Leonardo

The PSG sporting director says the French media has disrespected the club by publishing 'false' reports about the contract.

Lionel Messi’s transfer to PSG was arguably the most talked-about transfer of the summer. The Argentinian superstar ended his 21-year stay at Barcelona to join the Parisians on a two-year contract.

Earlier this week L'Equipe published a

report

about Messi’s contract at PSG, which claims a third season is also promised in the deal in addition to a yearly bonus of €15m.

PSG’s sporting director Leonardo rubbished the claims in a press conference on Saturday, insisting the duration of the contract is two years.

"We can't accept this,"

the PSG chief told reporters.

"This is unacceptable. This is completely false. I wanted to tell you that. I think it's a lack of respect and we didn't like it. I don't understand the timing. This is really very far from the truth, on the duration and the numbers.

"There are confidentiality clauses, but I can say that this is not the truth. The duration of the contract is two years. It's wrong, it's not that, and we didn't like it."

Messi made his PSG debut in the French giants’ 2-0 win over Reims on August 29. The former Barca star is expected to make his second Ligue 1 appearance in his side’s match against Lyon on Sunday.
