Leicester worried about Evan’s fitness after his return

For the first time since May, Jonny Evans came back to the starting line-up of Leicester City but at half-time, he was replaced.

Jonny Evans

might be dealing with a new injury as

Leicester

boss

Brendan Rodgers

revealed that he has to be assessed.

The Northern Irishman came back to the starting XI of the Foxes for the first time since May as they drew the game against

Napoli

2-2 in their Europa League group stage opener following his foot injury but he had to be replaced at half-time.

The club manager did not specify the injury but revealed that Evans may not feature when they go against Brighton in the Premier League.

"

It probably will do,"

Rodgers said when quizzed whether the problem will affect Evans' availability.

"I felt he was struggling to push off, so we’ll see how he is in next 24-48 hours."

The ex-Man Utd defender played in 28 games in the 2020-21 season for Leicester.

Leicester had a 2-0 lead at the beginning of the clash against Napoli but Victor Osimhen pulled the game level with his late brace and sealed his side’s one point.

We’re obviously disappointed we didn’t win the game,"

Rodgers said.

"We were in a great position, but we were playing against a really experienced team and we just couldn’t see it through. We’ll learn from that.
