England welcomes Germany and Spain for a new tournoment

England intends to prepare in a special way for the European Championships.

England

has invited Germany and Spain to the new women's international tournament to be held in February 2022, and the fourth team will be announced soon.

Lionesses competed in the SheBelieves cup held in the United States in February. They won the competition in 2019. However, they do not intend to participate in this competition for next year and want to form a new tournament. The competition will be attended by the world's top teams and will start a few months before the European Championships.

Baroness Sue Campbell, FA's director of women’s football said:

“This exciting new addition to the international calendar promises to further accelerate the rapid growth we are already seeing in women’s football.

“Giving England fans the opportunity to see their team take on some of the best opposition in the world on an annual basis will create substantial interest, leading to a broader fanbase and strengthening grassroots participation. It will also provide the England team with the best preparation heading into the major tournaments over the next four years.”
