Bielsa doesn’t expect a new signing for Leeds this summer

Having already signed Junior Firpo and Kristoffer Klaesson this summer while they made Manchester City’s Jack Harrison’s loan deal permanent, Bielsa insists he’s ‘happy with the players’ he has in the Leeds squad despite their bitter Premier League opening.

The Whites opened up their Premier League season with a

5-1 defeat to their rivals, Manchester United

. However, ahead of their clash with Everton, the Argentine coach admits further arrivals at Elland Road are unlikely this summer.

Bielsa told his pre-Everton conference: "It's the same group as last season with the substitution of Firpo for (Ezgjan) Alioski. If we have the option to bring another player in we will do it as long as that player is able to challenge the player who already has that position."

"Signings that strengthen the team means a player has to compete with players who already have a position. That means there's a very high cost to these," Bielsa said.

Kalvin Phillips and Llorente will stay sidelined during

Leeds Saturday match against Everton

. The duo missed last weekend's opening 5-1 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford as well.

"Another week of work means physically [Phillips] is better and closer," Bielsa said, adding Llorente would be able to compete for a place only from next week.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa took the charge at Elland Road in 2018 and led the club to ninth in the Premier League last season after securing the club's return to the top-flight following a 16-year absence.

The 66-year-old extended his stay at the club for a further year recently
