The reason behind Messi’s departure from Barcelona

Barcelona’s failure in signing Cristian Romero can be a reason for Messi’s departure.

Barcelona’s

Argentinian superstar has decided to part ways with the Catalans, and everyone has a different opinion about why he would make that decision and why the negotiations between

Messi’s

representatives and the club didn’t get anywhere.

One of these suggestions about the reason behind the failure in the negotiations between the club and the player is that the new contract wasn’t written because the club couldn’t manage to win the race for signing Atalanta’s defender

Cristian Romero

who was wanted by other clubs too.

Barcelona announced that Messi no longer plays for the club, which has been shocking news for the supporters around the world.

Sportitalia’s reporter

Gianluigi Longari

, who was the first one to break the news about Messi’s new contract, has claimed that the 34-year-old superstar, who has won six Ballon d'Or in his successful career at the club, is disappointed by the team that they have built for the 2021-22 season specifically after seeing their failure in winning the war against Tottenham Hotspur for Atalanta’s young defender Cristian Romero.

The other part of the problem with Messi’s failed negotiations with Barcelona is the financial problem; because the Liga has will not allow Barcelona to register the contract, despite cutting half of the player's salary compared to the last season.

Messi was not the only player that signing him caused problems for the club as they faced barriers in registering the club’s new signings.
