Brazil’s Olympic team manager explains the reasons behind Dani Alves’ inclusion in his squad.

Brazil under-20s squad list for 2020 Olympics, which will take place this summer in Tokyo, has been announced and former

has been included as one of the three overage players.

Each nation can include three overage players in their squad and Alves is one of the seniors that will accompany Selecao in the upcoming tournament.

has now explained the reasons behind the inclusion of 38-year-old Alves in his squad.

“He is a leader, a winner, he has a lot of charisma and he is very respected by all the Brazilian players,”

Jardine told reporter via



“He is a great example for this generation of players that we have.

“And, curiously, he has never competed in the Olympic games, so we think it is the perfect marriage.

“He is going to be an example to the squad and a leader on the pitch.

“And if we think of the player with excitement to become a champion…he has a rich history of titles.”
