Olivier Giroud completes move to AC Milan

The French striker has signed a two-year contract with the Rossoneri.

AC Milan have announced the signing of

Olivier Giroud

from Chelsea. The 34-year-old striker joins Stefano Pioli’s side on a two-year contract ahead of the next season.

“AC Milan is delighted to announce the signing of Olivier Jonathan Giroud on a permanent transfer from Chelsea FC. The French striker will be wearing the number 9 jersey.”

Having spent a six-year spell at Arsenal, Giroud joined Chelsea on €17m a deal in 2018. The French striker scored 39 goals in 119 appearances for the Blues while winning Champions League, Europa League, and FA Cup trophies with the west London side.

Milan are keen to bolster their squad ahead of the next season as they are determined to keep fighting for the Scudetto. Adding Giroud will expand Pioli’s options in the final third, where

’s potential fitness issues might cause problems for the Rossoneri. Giroud has reportedly joined Milan on a two-year contract that will cost the Italian side €1m. Another €1m is expected to be paid by the club if they manage to qualify for the next season’s Champions League.

Giroud might be available for Milan’s pre-season friendly against Real Madrid on August 8. The Rossoneri will start their 2021-22 Serie A season with a match against Sampdoria on August 22.
