Lewandowski to stay at Bayern despite Real Madrid links

With still two years remaining on his Die Roten contract, the Polish striker has been linked with a move away from Bavaria, with a Spanish report suggesting that Real Madrid remains his dream destination.

According to

Bild

Lewandowski’s

agent, Pini Zahavi, is set to hold talks with the Bavarians over a possible contract renewal with the 32-year-old striker.

Despite still having two years on his current contract, considering Lewandowski’s performances over the last couple of years, he has a strong case for demanding a renewal as constant speculations surrounding his future could be a way of putting pressure on Die Roten regarding a new deal.

However, with both the club’s board and Julian Nagelsmann wanting the striker to remain at

Bayern

, Lewandowski will certainly not be going anywhere this summer.

Earlier this week, the Polish striker

linked with a move to Manchester City

 as

Real Madrid

cannot afford a deal to sign the Polish striker this summer due to their pandemic-related financial struggles.

Daily Mail

 reported that

Man City

are currently monitoring Lewandowski and if they fail to sign Tottenham’s ace Harry Kane, they will make a move for the Poland international.

From Bayern’s point of view, they will ideally extend the Polish striker’s stay at Bavaria until 2024 with a raise in wages. The German Champions should also start looking for a younger striker that can eventually succeed Lewandowski at the club.

The Polish striker has performed on an exceptional level for Bayern last season, scoring 48 goals in 40 appearances for the Bavarians in various competitions.
